About

Brasília, Berlin, Chandigarh, Rabat, Gdynia, Le Havre, Asmara, and Tel Aviv are all modernist cities declared as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Along with its historical, cultural and economic value, the international recognition also entails a deep commitment to preserving the city’s unique urban heritage and restraining the ever-growing forces of development.
Tel Aviv-Yafo will host a series of public lectures by representatives of cities from all around the world, who will present their city and its modern heritage, and discuss innovative approaches to urban management designed to better balance the current push for development with the preservation of past heritage.
Participants include representatives from various cities as well as UNESCO and UN officials, and the forum will also feature professional discussions on preservation, sustainability, architectural heritage, and cultural identity.
The event is organized by the White City Center, the Department of Conservation of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, and the Urban Design Program at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem.
