The city is our main focus of study and action, and the Educational Program of the White City Center explores the urban space as a whole - the city and its residents, and the relationships and connections between the city and its people. Our research and studies are carried out as part of our ongoing dialogue with artists and creatives from various fields.
As part of our activities, we have joined the Education Administration of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality in developing Living in the City: a program implemented among fourth graders in schools operating in the White City zone.
During the program we invite the pupils to explore and study their living environment: the house, the building, the street, the neighborhood and the city.
When we think and talk about the White City, we mainly refer to architecture. The term Architecture is linked to the space in which we live and encompasses many worlds. Architecture links functionality and aesthetics, vision with practice and combines art, technology, history, science, politics, philosophy and more. Architecture touches on many areas of our lives and the modern architecture, as can be seen in the buildings of the White City, has played a key role in shaping the character and nature of Tel Aviv.
The city in which we live is an active, spontaneous and multi-sensory learning space, that serves as a kind of alternative school where the hierarchy and roles of students and teachers are constantly shifting. A city is a place where we can learn from each other, share knowledge, ideas, thoughts, skills, and experience.
