In 2019, we will celebrate the centennial of the Bauhaus movement with partners from all over the world. While the German Bauhaus School operated only 14 years (1919-1933), its influence on global architecture and design remains significant and far-reaching to this day.
The White City Center will participate for the first time in the Triennale der Moderne, which takes place every three years, allowing Tel Aviv to join Weimar, Dessau, and Berlin in hosting a series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus. The White City Center, scheduled to open in 2019, will focus on the concept of Societies on the Move: the movement of people, materials, and cultures as a central element of modern architecture and its influence on the urban landscape. The projects will explore historical and contemporary relationships through representations of identities, examining how migration and mobility affect individuals, cities, and cultures while reshaping their identities.
The following projects will be featured during the Center’s inaugural year:
The show will be featured simultaneously at the White City Center (Tel Aviv-Yafo) and the Bauhaus School in Dessau (Germany).
A material and historical study of the controversial Transfer Agreement (1933-1939), which enabled the extraction of Jewish wealth from Nazi Germany to Palestine through the import of German goods. The goods included construction materials used in the international style buildings throughout the White City in the 1930s. The exhibition will focus on and grow out of the Liebling House (29 Idelson St), home of the White City Center, and where some of those construction materials were found.

The Matter of Data. Tracing the Materiality of ‘Bauhaus Modernism September 2019
The show will be featured simultaneously in Tel Aviv and at the Bauhaus University in Weimar.
The Liebling House, home of the White City Center, is a case study illustrating the materiality of modernism and Bauhaus through digital media, focusing on the process of renovation and rebuilding of the Center.

The tours will take place throughout the White City (Tel Aviv-Yafo)
The Center will offer four tours marking 100 years of Bauhaus. Each tour will feature 25 international style buildings in the White City.
